11 Reasons Why I Love Gilmore Girls

I’m late to this party. And this isn’t any ordinary party. At this party, everyone drinks coffee. Nothing but coffee. And everyone talks very fast. I am currently on season four of hit US comedy Gilmore Girls. Once you discover the brilliance of this show, you will never look back. So, here are a some of the reasons why I love it (trying to keep this short and snappy in true Gilmore fashion).

Everyone knows everyone in Stars Hollow

Stars Hollow is a fictional town, very small, and everyone knows everyone. It’s hard not to get sucked into their lives. The minor characters; from Kirk to Miss Patty, are all so brilliant – tell me you don’t care about each and every one’s happiness.

Stars Hollow

Luke’s diner. Taylor’s Olde Sweet Shop (the ice cream looks insane). The cute band stand in the town centre. Town hall meetings. The Independence Inn. Doose’s market where the corn starch ‘meet cute’ happened. I mean, tell me you don’t want to go there.

It’s cosy

Maybe because of the small town element or maybe it’s the lovable characters, but Gilmore Girls is just the ultimate cosy show. Pyjamas and a cuppa; evening complete.

All the laughs

Whilst their are many reasons I love Gilmore Girls, it is first and foremost a comedy. The script is genius, the weirdly addictive fast-paced talking is brilliant, and it makes me laugh a lot. Lorelai probably the most (just laughed out loud to a bit where she’s dancing in the car and Emily knocks on the window).

Pretty people

Season four Jared Padalecki. Milo Ventimiglia.

Will they, won’t they?

Lorelai and Luke. I’m pretty sure I’ve been spoiled on this point. But, I don’t know the details of what happens. Scruffy baseball cap cafe owner and bubbly, coffee addicted, inn own. They have such a great friendship and it’s fun seeing them go through the ups and downs of life.

Like mother, like daugher

How can you not adore the closeness of Lorelai and Rory? How can you not laugh at their adorable quips and quick chatter? They are the Gilmore Girls – naturally funny together and perfect on-screen mother and daughter.

Everyone else

I love all the characters and their stories. Sookie St. James and Jackson. Paris’ pedantic but caring ways. Lane and the band. Emily and Richard; they may have their issues with Lorelai, but they love their daughter and Rory alike. They also make me laugh a lot.

Young love

Awkward dates and first kisses. Rory’s has been in two relationships so far (remember I’m on season four). She is still young and learning about love and heartbreak. But, the happy moments are precious.

Through the years

A lot has happened in four seasons. The characters have changed a lot from their life experiences. I love the stories and how the characters develop over the seasons. Rory; from Chilton to Yale. Lorelai; from the Independence Inn to the Dragonfly.

Where you lead, I will follow

I sing along every time.

The Book of Dust by Philip Pullman

From Philip Pullman, The Book of Dust is a new three-part series set 10 years before Northern Lights. It begins withVol. 1 La Belle Sauvage, a story centred on seeking individual freedom and safety in a society wrought with wrongdoing. I really enjoyed this book and the world Pullman creates; although, I have much more to learn about the set-up of the world and its politics. I have not yet read the original trilogy and so have started with this much later release, however I am looking forward to reading His Dark Materials.

Okay. First things first with this book. Can we talk about how beautiful the cover is? Not just the jacket, which is also very beautiful, but the cover of the book itself. It’s black, with hundreds of tiny foiled gold specs all over the front and back (profoundly reminiscent of the book’s fictional, celestial matter known as Dust), and a foiled gold quote written down the spine. It’s divine.

A boy and a girl, in a canoe, with a baby. A tumultuous tale of a manhunt on a flood, except the party being chased is completely innocent. A crazed and dishevelled miscreant with an cruel, unexplained agenda. A corrupt security force inflicting their austere rules upon society. A group of scholars with a golden compass. And a big mass of water.

*Plot details ahead*

La Belle Sauvage is a fantasy adventure led by Malcolm, an 11-year-old boy, wise beyond his years and yet naive still in understanding his emotions. Malcolm is an instantly likeable character. You can believe that he is an 11-year-old boy, yet he is intelligent even beyond his own recognition. His intelligence shows in the choices he makes and in the way he handles different situations. But, when it comes to understanding his own rage he describes it as a pack of wild dogs, or his feelings for Alice, he struggles to know what his feelings might mean.

The family unit created by Malcolm, Alice and baby Lyra is the base which the story rests upon. When the flood comes the current of the water flows fast, and so does the pace of the story. Malcolm and Alice are washed away in the canoe after rescuing Lyra. They have to learnt how to fend for themselves, how to care for an 8-month-old baby and how to remain hidden from danger. The various threats that hang over them remain imminent throughout the story. It’s almost as if, like them, you barely get a moment to pause or think, you’re just swept up in this wild adventure and the pace makes it so exciting.

As a reader, you get used to the characters referring to their daemons (and I feel that I will miss the characters talking to the animal manifestations of their souls in the next book I read). I really like the idea of daemons and, in the story, they provide a lot of insight into the characters and their feelings. A particularly striking character is the villainous Bonneville, whose daemon is a hyena with one leg missing and a cruel demeanour. Bonneville is such a mysterious and loathsome character. His own persona, along with his daemon, create a sinister presence within the story.

Lyra’s daemon, Pantalaimon, allows you to develop her character in your mind, even though she is just a baby in this story. Throughout much of the adventure, she is fearless or innocently unaware of what’s really happening. She is a pure soul, far too pure and young to understand or be disturbed by the darkness around her. Lyra is almost like a beacon of light that keeps them going, their love for her and their desire to protect her are prominent themes. I was routing for them to reach safety throughout the whole story, and when Lyra was taken away from them, I was scared for them.

I am excited for the story of The Book of Dust to continue and I hope we do get answers to some of the remaining questions. What happened to Sister Fenella and Sister Benedicta? Did they survive? Is this really the end of Bonneville? What will his research lead to? Did Hannah Relf survive the flood? Will Malcolm see his parents again? Is Lyra safe?

I’m so pleased I decided to pick up this book and fall into this wonderful world created by Philip Pullman. I can’t wait to read more.

What I Got For My Birthday 2018

On the 24th of January I celebrated my birthday. I actually celebrated it throughout the week surrounding the 24th and I had such a lovely time. I received some absolutely lovely presents for my birthday and I wanted to share what I got in a blog post, as I always enjoy reading these kinds of posts.

Disclaimer: I am not intending to show off. I feel very lucky to have received such lovely presents and I thought you might be interested to see what I got.

From my friend Emma:

My wonderful best friends Emma and Hannah, who I met at university, and I were talking about when we could meet up in the New Year, so I suggested a weekend near my birthday. We had the best weekend catching up as we don’t get to see each other very often and it was really lovely.

Emma got me some fun American sweets, Lindor chocolates, and two tiny bottles of Jägermeister. She also got me some delicious Mr Kipling French Fancies (which I absolutely love), some Cadbury Twirl Bites and some Rainbow Nerds. I’ve been grabbing a handful of these every now and then since Emma gave them to me and the box is now almost empty! Emma also got me a book called A Place Called Perfect by Helena Duggan. It’s about a girl called Violet who lives in Perfect, where you have to be perfectly behaved all the time, but strange and unexplainable things start to happen and Violet is determined to find out the truth about what’s going on. I think this book sounds so intriguing and I’m really looking forward to reading it.

From my friend Hannah:

My lovely friend Hannah got me the Coach New York Eau De Parfum which smells divine. I am something of an amateur when it comes to perfume in that I don’t have a specific idea of what scents suit my skin. But, I can say that I absolutely love this scent.

I’m not too sure how to describe what this smells like, but if I were to have a go, I’d say it smells warm and classy, a gorgeous evening scent. The bottle has a very pretty, simple design and I love seeing it perched on my bedside table.

From my Mum and Dad:

My Mum and Dad bought me tickets to visit the State Rooms at Buckingham Palace in London with the Royal Collection Trust. Buckingham Palace is a working palace and the residential London home of Queen Elizabeth II. I love learning about history, the royal family and I really enjoy visiting historic places.

I have also visited Osborne House on the Isle of Wight, which was the summer home of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert, and the Tower of London. I have never been inside Buckingham Palace but I’ve heard it’s absolutely amazing. Some of the highlights include the State Rooms, the Throne Room, the Picture Gallery and the Ballroom.

To continue with the theme of royalty, I also got a Queen Bee notebook. I am an absolute sucker for stationery. I love having a fresh, new notebook even if I have no idea what I’m planning to write it in. I can’t wait to fill it with ideas. And finally, I got a ‘Queen for the Day’ inflatable crown which I did actually wear on my birthday. It was such a fun idea and I’m sure I’ll keep it for future birthdays.

Image-1 (7).png

The next thing I opened from my parents was the most beautiful note card set from Paper Destiny, which is such a cool brand. I have always loved baking and I find things with cupcakes on pretty adorable, so this was the perfect gift for me. The set comes in a box called Sweets & Treats and contains 20 cards in 4 different patterns, 20 pink envelopes and some circular metallic butterfly stickers to seal them.

The designs include cupcakes, macaroons, doughnuts, lollipops and delicious pastries. They have glitter detailing on them and the cards are blank inside so you can write your own message. I can’t wait to send these out to people. I’ll probably start with some thank you notes for my birthday presents.

From my Mum and Dad I also got some super soft pyjamas. They feel like they are going to be so comfy. And finally, they got me a little owl phone screen cleaner which you can attach to your phone.

From my Sister:

My Sister got me tickets to see this wonderful lady in concert. Carrie Hope Fletcher is one of my absolutely idols and she is performing her first ever solo concert at Cadogan Hall in London this year. Carrie has played a number of different parts in musical theatre shows, including Eponine in Les Misérables Dubai, Truly Scrumptious in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and most recently Wednesday Addams in The Addams Family (UK Tour).

I was lucky enough to see Carrie in The Addams Family last October and she was phenomenal, as was the show itself. I was so excited to hear that she was doing a solo concert and releasing her first solo album. The idea of Carrie possibly bringing out original music is so exciting and I can’t wait to hear what’s on her album and see her perform in April.

As someone who loves musical theatre and does amateur dramatics as a hobby, I loved following the Watch Me, Wednesday videos on her YouTube channel (Carrie Hope Fletcher – previously known as ItsWayPastMyBedtime). I performed in an amateur theatre show last year and this series of videos reminded me so much of that experience. The curtain calls that come through the speaker in the dressing room, the show rituals that set in after a few shows and the first night nerves – the whole thing. I loved being able to watch Carrie’s experience, especially as she is such a fun, bubbly and lovely person!

From my Godmother:

My Godmother got me this gorgeous watch from Jasper Conran which I absolutely love. It’s really heavy on your wrist so it feels like such lovely quality.

I haven’t been able to wear it yet because it needs to be resized to fit my wrist, but I’m so excited for when I can. I’d like to keep it as an evening watch, for when I want to feel dressed up.

From my Godmother I also got two new books, as she and I often talk about the books we’ve read or swap books, so it’s an interest we both share. She got me The Miniaturist by Jessie Burton; a story set in 17th century Amsterdam. From reading the blurb, I can tell you that this book is about a new wife, who receives a dolls house replica of her marital home. But, it is no ordinary dolls house. There seems to be eerie similarities between the real world and the creations of the miniaturist who fills the little house. It sounds so interesting and a little bit creepy, so I’m very intrigued and excited to read it.

The second book is How To Stop Time by Matt Haig. It’s about a man who has been alive for centuries due to a rare condition, and still appears to look 41 years old. He wants to live a normal life, but he isn’t supposed to fall in love. It sounds like it will have the same kind of vibe as The Adjustment Bureau or The Time Traveller’s Wife, a surreal and mysterious love story. I am excited to pick this one up as I think it sounds so intriguing.

My Godmother also got me Victoria & Abdul on DVD. We both really love the story of Queen Victoria and have enjoyed a trip to Osborne House together as well as many conversations about the phenomenal young queen. I know a lot about her younger years, but I haven’t yet heard the story of her friendship with Abdul. I am looking forward to learning more about this part of her life.

And finally, my Godmother got me the most adorable cat slipper socks and the Beauty Box Contour and Highlight Set.

From a Close Family Friend:

I got this gorgeous New Look bag which is so big and spacious. I have been using it for work since I got it and it is the perfect work bag; it is smart and classic, with lots of room!

From my Nan and Grandad:

My Nan and Grandad kindly gave me money for Christmas and my birthday. I wanted to get something good with it so I could show them what I got, instead of just putting it in the bank. I have always found the idea of Polaroid cameras really cool and I love the old-fashioned aspect of them. There’s something really special about taking one-off, unique photos as tiny Polaroids. A breath of fresh air in this digital world.

I got the Fujifilm Instax Mini 70 in Rose Gold (which is exclusive to John Lewis). The camera itself comes with film of 10 shots and I also ordered another pack of 20 shots.

From my Work Team:

For team work birthday’s we started a traditional this year to buy everyone a Funko Pop! of their favourite character, from a film or TV show. The team got me an ‘Eleven with Eggos’ which is so cute! I was secretly hoping that they would get me this one as Stranger Things is my absolute favourite show, and Eleven is my favourite character. She now sits proudly on my desk everyday, looking content with her Eggos.

My team also got me a Skinnydip phone case with bananas all over it. I love Skinnydip phone cases and I’d had a sparkly pumpkin one on my phone since October last year. I think they wanted to get me a new one so I didn’t have pumpkins in January! I used to have an avocado one so they continued with the theme of food. I absolutely love this banana case because of the pure randomness of it.

Image-1 (10)

From Other Work Friends:

My friend Jo got me some Lindt Creation Dessert chocolates which look amazing. A selection of chocolates based on famous dessert recipes – yes please. I haven’t tried these yet but I’m excited to see what they’re like. Jo also got me a mini bottle of Prosecco and a ‘Birthday Girl’ badge, which was so thoughtful and sweet. I also got a box of Celebrations from Rob, who used to be my manager, which were devoured pretty quickly!

And there you have it. Again, I am not intending to show off in any way. I enjoy writing and reading these posts, and I hope you do too. If you do enjoy this post please do leave me a like or a comment, and send me links to your most recent posts so I can have a read.

The Birthday Post

I’ve started this post not really 100% sure what I’m going to write about. But, it’s my birthday, and I wanted to write something. Today, I turn 23. Yep, I’ve been a fully fledged adult for 5 whole years and I’ve grown so much in that time to become the person I want to be. I’ve been to university, graduated, and started my career. I have always enjoyed my birthday and experienced the over-whelming feeling of it being “my day” every year, because my family and friends always make it so special for me.

I’ve managed to come up with what I hope is a fun idea for this post. I’ve come up with a bunch of questions, the answers to which it might be fun to look back on. It could be interesting if I remember to answer them on every birthday, to see how my thoughts and interests change over the years. I’ve tried to stick to snappy answers where possible, or at least kept them concise, so I don’t end up rambling on. I’ll also dot some of my birthday photos throughout this post. I hope you enjoy it anyway and please do leave me a comment if you do.

So there you have it. These are the questions I came up with that I thought it might be fun to answer on each of my birthdays. Hopefully it’s given you an insight into the life of a 2018 23-year-old. Leave me a comment if you enjoyed reading my post and I’ll be back again soon for my next one.

What I Got For Christmas 2017

Hi lovely people. I hope you all had the most fantastic Christmas and that you got to spend it with the people that you love. As usual, the day flew by in a blink with the  excitement of getting everything prepared and exchanging gifts with friends and family.

I wanted to share the presents I received for Christmas on my blog. I really enjoy reading about what other people got in similar blog posts.

Disclaimer: I am not intended to show off. I feel so lucky to have received such lovely Christmas presents and I thought some of you might be interested to see what I got.

From my Mum and Dad:

Jean Paul Gaultier Le Classique Christmas Edition Eau de Toilette

I absolutely love this Christmas edition of Jean Paul Gaultier’s Le Classique perfume. It feels very special and I love the smell. I’ll probably just keep it inside the snow globe when I’m not using it because it looks so pretty.

divider-2461548_1280Weekly Desk Planner

This pretty desk planner is from Sainsbury’s. Each page has a seven day layout which you can use to jot down important notes. I love stationery, especially going into a new year, so this was a great gift for me.

divider-2461548_1280New Look Top

I got this cute floral top which is from New Look. It has a floaty style and frilly details. I’ll probably wear this to work, but I think it would work just as well as a weekend top. It’s more of a winter floral, but I think you could wear it all year round.

divider-2461548_1280Socks, Slippers and Kevin & Katie

Last year my Mum and Dad got me some Fox slippers from Next and I’ve basically lived in them ever since. This year they surprised me with the 2017 versions, which I think are mice, and they are so cute. Also, it’s very important to have some festive socks to wear on or around Christmas day!

My Mum and I have this ongoing joke about how much I love the carrots in the Aldi Christmas adverts! Earlier on in December, my Mum also got me a reusable shopping bag which you can fold up into a carrot shaped pouch. I just think it’s so cute!

Family Amazon Echo

My Dad got our whole family an Amazon Echo! We’d talked about getting it a few times and it was one of the first ideas for a Christmas present I had for my Dad. We’re had so much fun talking to it and requesting songs on Spotify. It’s fun to try and work out all the things you can ask it, such as ‘what’s on TV tonight’ which will give you a full run-down of the top shows. Alexa has well and truly become part of the family.

divider-2461548_1280From my Sister:

Urban Decay Vice Lipstick Palette

I am a tiny bit obsessed with Urban Decay palettes. My sister and I often chose our main Christmas present for each other when we’re out shopping together. I have some of the UD eyeshadow palettes and I saw this lipstick palette when we were out and loved it. I can’t wait to try out the different shades as I know the quality is likely to be amazing.

divider-2461548_1280New Look Cosmic Print Bag

I saw this little bag in New Look when my Sister and I were out Christmas shopping together and instantly loved it. But, with it being so close to Christmas, I didn’t want to spend money on myself. My Sister got it for me for Christmas and I’m so glad I got it! I love the cosmic pattern on it and the colours.

divider-2461548_1280From my Godmother:

Champagne Chocoholic Tea for Two

The first present I received from my Godmother was a Champagne Chocoholic Afternoon Tea for Two at The London Hilton Park Lane, for my Sister and I to enjoy together. I think we’re going to book it for some time in February next year so we can have it to look forward to.

We’ll be treated to a four course chocoholic afternoon tea (which sounds like the most delicious thing ever). It includes classic British sandwiches, a selection of scones, freshly made pastries and a selection of chocolate miniature fancies – and, of course, a glass of champagne! I’m so excited to do this in the new year!

divider-2461548_1280Victoria & Albert – A Royal Love Affair by Daisy Goodwin

This is the second official companion book to the ITV series Victoria. I absolutely love the TV show and Queen Victoria’s story and history. My Godmother and I both enjoy learning about her and we actually visited Osborne House, Queen Victoria’s summer house on the Isle of Wight, together last year.

divider-2461548_1280Chocolate Treats and Festive Light-up Frame

Some Cadbury Snowy Fingers and classic chocolate coins, which I absolutely love. I don’t think I’ve had a Christmas without both of these. I also got a light-up frame filled with silver glitter which says ‘Santa Please Stop Here’ on the front. It looks so pretty!

divider-2461548_1280Agent Provocateur Fatale Pink Perfume

A girl can never have too much perfume. I have no idea how to describe fragrances but I think Fatale Pink smells quite clean and natural. The design of the bottle is also so lovely.

divider-2461548_1280Apricot Owl Print Dress

This adorable Owl print dress is from Apricot. I can definitely see myself wearing this to work with some black leggings and brown boots. It is made from a really soft material so I’m sure it’ll be warm and comfortable.

divider-2461548_1280From a Close Family Friend:

M&S Dressing Gown, Socks and Eye Mask

This fluffy dressing gown with penguins all over it is so me! It is so soft and completely adorable. It came with an attached eye mask, in the same print as the dressing gown, and some fluffy blue socks, which match the blue snowflakes in the dressing gown print. I also got some festive underwear which is also adorable!

divider-2461548_1280From my Uni Friend:

The Body Shop Coconut Treats

From my friend Lili from university I got a body gift set from The Body Shop which includes a coconut shower cream, a coconut body milk, and a cream bath lily. I have already used this and I have to say it smells divine!

From my Secret Santa at work:

Cat Trinket Tray, Button Necklace and Tanya Burr Cosmetic’s Palette

My team at work did a Secret Santa gift exchange before we all left for Christmas. Everyone put so much thought into their gifts and it was really lovely. I received an adorable cat trinket tray, the Tanya Burr Cosmetics Enchanted Dream eyeshadow palette, and a button necklace.

And that’s everything that I received for Christmas this year. I’d love to read your ‘What I Got For Christmas’ posts so please do link them below in the comments. I had a wonderful Christmas day and I hope you all did too. Bring on 2018!

Making Christmas Cards

Hello everyone. I hope you’re all enjoying December so far. I’d love to have a read of your blogmas posts so please do send me your links in the comments.

Today I’d like to share with you the Christmas card designs that I have been making. I made a trip to Hobbycraft a few days ago and there were so many brilliant Christmas crafts for card making. You don’t have to spend lots of money either because everything is so reasonably priced. Each item I purchased cost me between £1 and £4. Also, you don’t have to buy a huge amount to make really delicate and pretty handmade cards.

Reindeer in the Snow

My first design is called ‘Reindeer in the Snow.’ I used the Dovecraft Cards & Envelopes 6″ x 6″ and these were 240gsm, a good quality and thickness. I used the Hobbycraft Glitter Snow x 3 pack (£1) and some glue to create a blanket of snow along the bottom of the card. I then stuck one of the Pa Rom Pa Pompom Reindeer Felt Toppers 6 Pack (£1) on the front of the card so it was standing on the snow.

Next, I stuck on one of the Self Adhesive Christmas Sentiments by Christmas Whisper, which just say ‘Merry Christmas‘ in different fonts and in two shades of blue. And finally, I stuck on some tiny Hobbycraft White Pompoms to look like snow falling down all around the Reindeer. On the back, I stuck on one of the Christmas Whisper “Handmade With Love” Sticker Seals on the back.

Letter to Santa Claus

My second design is called ‘Letter to Santa Claus.’ For this one I used the Centura Pearl pearlescent cards and envelopes, which are 310gsm. I used one of the Christmas Whisper A5 Glitter Sheets and cut it into a square shape, just smaller than the card itself. I found the most adorable tiny silver pegs and miniature blue envelopes and I thought it would be a cute idea to create a letter to Santa and peg it to the front of the card.

I used another of the ‘Merry Christmas’ stickers on the top of the card. And finally, I used some festive glitter sticks around the edges of the blue glitter square in the centre.

Festive Holly Wreath

My third design is called ‘Festive Holly Wreath.’ The central piece in this design is the Make It Merry Wreath Topper, a miniature felt wreath covered in holly. I used the glitter snow to create the shape of a door and stuck the felt wreath on top.

Again, I used the ‘Merry Christmas’ sticker across the top and some snowflake glitter stickers all around the outside. It can get a bit messy with the glitter, so if you’d prefer to use a rectangle of glittery card that would work well too.

Gingerbread House in the Woods

My fourth and final design is called ‘Gingerbread House in the Woods.’ For this design I used some more of the glitter card and cut a shape to cover the bottom part of the card, making the top line wavy. When I saw these Make It Merry Gingerbread House Tree and Heart Felt Toppers, I just had to get them! I love baking and these reminded me of baking gingerbread at Christmas time. I stuck on a gingerbread house in the middle, with a tree on either side. (All of the felt toppers I’ve used have little circular sticky disks on the back, so you just peel and stick).

I used one of the ‘Merry Christmas’ stickers on the top and a few of the tiny white pompoms spread around the rest of the card to look to snow falling down.

And there you have it. Those are my four different Christmas card designs, made with craft items I bought at Hobbycraft. Let me know if you’re planning to do any Christmas crafts this year and what you’re going to make. Again, don’t forget to link your blogmas posts in the comments below!

For the items that I haven’t included links for, I couldn’t find the exact items on the website, but if you search Hobbycraft you’ll be sure to find some alternatives.

Christmas Party Outfit

The festive season is upon us. I wanted to share my Christmas party outfit with you, including a few make-up bits and accessories. I love getting all dressed up for a night out and Christmas is the perfect time for it. Be prepared for lots of glitter.

I can’t help myself when it comes to glitter, especially at Christmas. NYX Professional Make-up is starting to become one of my favourite beauty brands. I love the range of colours NYX offer and it’s affordable. I came across these Face & Body Glitter Brilliants and picked up two different colours, Ice and Violet.

I also picked up the NYX Glitter Primer, to give the glitter something to cling onto. I decided to use the white glitter (Ice) on my lids and the bluey glitter (Violet) underneath on my bottom lash line. You can see my final look later on in this post!

Eyeshadow Glitter Pots

From ASOS I got the Shimmer Effect Cross Body Bag. This pretty pink bag matches my dress perfectly. It has a shoulder strap, which I much prefer to a clutch bag, and it is just big enough for the essentials.

I also got the ASOS Crystal Moon Hair Clip, a simple, delicate slide clip. The jewelled choker I got is from New Look. I needed a statement necklace because my dress is strapless.

In the photos below you can also see the NYX Cosmic Metals Lip Cream in the colour Metropolitan Night. I thought a two-toned lip with a bit of shimmer would tie in with the whole look. It looks so cool when it’s applied, definitely a really great lip product for a party!

I found what I can only describe as Cinderella shoes in Dorothy Perkins. These Gold ‘Sienna’ Sandals were in the ‘last chance to buy’ sales. They are pink but seem to be two-toned when they hit the light. I have to say as far as heels can be comfy, these ones were pretty comfy! My feet ached a little from dancing, but they weren’t painful.

If you’re looking for new shoes, I’d definitely recommend Dorothy Perkins! There are so many stunning pairs on their website.

The Dress

I got this ASOS Bandeau Ombré Sparkle Mini Skater Dress to wear to the party. I thought the asymmetric design on the front and the two different colours (as well as a bit of shimmer) were pretty and a bit different. I usually go for skater dresses as that’s the style I’m most comfortable in.

I hope you’ve enjoyed reading about my Christmas party outfit. I enjoy sharing my style choices and trying out new make up. I’m excited to be posting more festive content over the coming weeks! Lots of fun times to come in December.
